Stay Connected

During an emergency or unexpected situation, accurate information matters. APS may communicate with families through JCampus messages, text and email alerts, the district website, social media, and other official communication channels.

How Families Can Help

  • Keep phone numbers and email addresses up to date with your child's school.
  • Make sure emergency contacts and authorized pickup information are current.
  • During an emergency, monitor official APS communication channels for updates and instructions.
  • Wait for official instructions before traveling to a school or reunification location.

Look to APS for confirmed information. Information circulating through texts or social media may be incomplete while a situation is unfolding. Always rely on official APS communications for confirmed information and instructions.

Report a Safety Concern

Students and families are encouraged to report safety concerns to a trusted school employee, school administrator, or the district office. Concerns may also be reported anonymously using Safe Schools LA.

Threats involving schools or school activities are taken seriously. Students should never make threatening statements as jokes, pranks, text messages, social media posts, or verbal comments.

In an Emergency, Call 911

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911 right away.

Helpful Safety Reminders for Families

Families play an important role in helping students understand and prepare for school safety procedures.

  • Follow school staff and emergency personnel instructions during drills or emergencies.
  • Keep your contact information current with your child's school.
  • Talk with your child about safety at school, at home, online, and while traveling to and from school.
  • Encourage students to tell a trusted adult when something feels unsafe or concerning.
