When Should I Contact the School Nurse?

Please contact your child's school nurse when there is health information that may affect your child's safety, care, or participation at school. This may include:

Keeping the school informed matters. Sharing important health information helps the school nurse understand and respond to your child's health needs during the school day.
  • A new or ongoing medical condition
  • A need for prescription or emergency medication at school
  • Severe allergies or asthma
  • Diabetes, seizure disorders, or other chronic conditions
  • A recent hospitalization, surgery, or significant injury
  • Changes in a student's health or treatment plan
  • Questions about immunization requirements
  • Questions about whether a student is well enough to attend school
